Norbert Hummel studied at the Hotel and Catering School in Vienna and has a University Degree in Economics. He started his career in the hotel sector. From 1976 till 2000, he worked for different hotel chains in Austria, Germany, the UK and Russia. In 2000, he joined the Accor Group as Regional Director for Austria. Since 2004, he is Managing Director of Eurest Austria and Hungary.

Norbert Hummel was elected President of FERCO in December 2009.
