EU decision-making process
Contract catering is directly affected by many aspects of European
level legislation:
Labour Laws, Social Affairs,
Food Safety and Hygiene,
Environmental legislation,
Tax legislation, Public
Procurement, Corporate Law, etc.
To raise the profile of the contract catering sector
Contract catering supplies an important and essential service to
businesses, organisations and to society as a whole. FERCO aims
to provide decision makers on all fronts with a better understanding
of the industry and the far-reaching role it plays.
To provide a European level forum for contract caterers
FERCO offers operators from all Member
States a platform to pool experience, exchange and develop
Best Practice within and across borders, and to reach consensus
on topics of common interest.
To co-operate with other EU employers associations
representing the services industry
FERCO is a member of the European Employers Network. By joining
forces with other associations, the federation is in a better position
to make the case for the fast growing services industry, and one
creating many of the jobs in Europe.
To pursue a Social Dialoguespecific
to the contract catering sectorat EU level
With the inclusion of the Social Chapter in the Maastricht Treaty,
Social Partners have a critical role to play, both in the EU decision
making process and in the harmonisation of labour laws (at the
sector
and inter-professional levels). FERCOs objective is to establish
a constructive partnership with the European Federation representing
the contract catering workers, in order to make the sector more
representative on the European scene.
